Description

A 25 year old St Magdalene whisky. Bottled by Gordon & Macphail, as part of their Connoisseurs Choice series. Distilled in 1965 before being bottled in 1990. St Magdalene distillery was closed in 1983 and partly demolished.

Colour: straw.

Nose:
A metallic and herbal profile. Metallic noses can be awful but that isn’t the case at all here. There’s also a little lemon liqueur, lemongrass, some coffee, parsley, quite some chervil. In short, a very ‘different’ nose but St Magdalene used to be a different malt.

Taste:
Some tar, heavy liquorice, pine resin, mint… It’s really like some old-style cough syrup. Tar liqueur.

Finish:
Long, rich, extremely sooty, even ashy.

As with all our older bottles, there may be some slight damage to the labels / box.  Please see the pictures.
