Description

An 11 year old Ardbeg whisky. A distillery bottling, distilled on 21st May 1998 in a bourbon cask, No.1275 before being bottled on 29th October 2009. A run of just 252 bottles, this is bottle number 120.

Colour: Bright gold.

Nose:
With the first sniff, encounter delicious desserts with powerful sherbert and vanilla ice cream, and the sweetness of ripe bananas and barley sugar. Waxy milk chocolate follows with cloves and menthol spice, gently toasted cedar wood.

Water opens up the aroma to reveal barbecued bananas smothered with milk chocolate and cream.Intense pine resin and freshfruit salad follow. A gentle smokiness wafts from a barbecue on the beach. Subtle fish follows in a creamy sauce with slices of lemon and lime.

Taste:
A chewy and silky mouth-feel with a lovely sweet-dry balance on taste. The intitial taste brings sweet fudge and toffee with sherbet lemon and lime. Banana skins and spiced pears progress to chewy sugared almonds. Rich hickory smoke builds up mid palate, revealing tarry oily depths with espresso. dark chocolate and aniseed.

Finish:
Long and smooth, reminiscent of a liqueur coffee and chocolate.
