Description

A 27 year old GlenDronach whisky. Bottled at cask strength, this GlenDronach was distilled on the 4th April 1990, it was then aged for 27 years, in a Pedro Ximénez Sherry Puncheon cask before being bottled in May 2017. A run of just 546 bottles, this is bottle No.9 of 546.

The GlenDronach distillery is a historic Highland Scotch whisky producer in the Valley of Forgue near Huntly, Aberdeenshire. It is especially known for rich, full-bodied single malts matured in Spanish sherry casks.

The GlenDronach distillery was founded in 1826. It was mothballed in 1996 and distilling did not resume until 2002. GlenDronach’s traditional character comes from a heavy, robust spirit and maturation in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The resulting whiskies commonly show notes of dried fruit, dark chocolate, toffee, orange, nuts, and baking spice. The brand’s modern revival helped re-establish it as one of Scotland’s best-known sherry-led single malts.
