Description

A 30 year old Littlemill whisky. Bottled by The Vintage Malt Whisky Co Ltd as part of their The Cooper’s Choice series. Distilled in 1984, it was then aged in a bourbon cask, numbered 3904, for over 30 years before being bottled in 2015. A run of just 270 bottles.

Littlemill distillery was closed in 1994, dismantled in 1997 and destroyed by fire in 2004.

Colour: Straw.

Nose: Soft, focused mainly on wood. Some really tenuous fruits. Like all old whiskies, you have to give it time but even by opening the nose, certainly pleasant. The wood is delicate and floral notes appear, all marrying wonderfully.

Taste: First sip, it’s the slap! All the floral nuances are reviewed, then the fruits, light, quickly dominated by the bitterness of the grapefruit. Everything is melted in a perfect and fluid sequence. Unstoppable and of great precision, the flavors parade and crescendo in bitterness until the fruity explosion dominated by the very juicy grapefruit that bursts in your mouth. All this gives the dram a freshness making us apprehend the fruity finish like a magnificent sorbet.

Finish: The finish is long, even very long on the fruit. Here again, the unfolding is precise and marvelous: the grapefruit of the finish lingers, gradually fading away in favor of the vanilla which breaks through, then the vanilla caramelizes and finally the appearance of a hint of salt makes us switch to salted butter caramel. Sumptuous!.

As with all our older bottles, there may be some slight damage to the labels / box.  Please see the pictures.
