Description

A 23 year old Port Ellen whisky. Bottled at cask strength by Scott’s as part of their Selection series. Bottled in 2005. The Port Ellen Distillery was closed and partly demolished in 1983. This is a true classic from a long-lost distillery.

Colour: straw.

Nose:
Green tea, fresh bitter almonds, apple peelings, ashes, whiffs of hot tarmac (but less than in other PE’s) discreet oakiness (notes of cappuccino, a little vanilla).

Taste:
Peat and pears. Goes on with marzipan, cough syrup, a little icing sugar and liquorice sticks… Wow!.

Finish:
A lot of sugar powder infused with cinnamon, apples and cedar wood.

As with all our older bottles, there may be some slight damage to the labels / box.  Please see the pictures.
