Description

A 25 year old Glenlochy whisky. Bottled at cask strength by Diageo as part of their Rare Malts series – a historic selection of single malt whiskies from operational and lost distilleries that were released by Diageo between 1995 and 2005. This Glenlochy was distilled in 1969, it was then aged for 25 years, before being bottled.

The Glenlochy distillery was closed in 1983, and in 1986 the site was partly demolished, with just the malt barn and kiln remaining. By the early 1990s only the protected kiln building remains of the original distillery. Glenloch is now one of the rarest and most obscure closed distilleries, with very few official or independent bottlings available.

Colour: pale gold.

Nose:
(Neat): Fresh, fragrant, and fruity with apple and unripe pear leading, often joined by floral notes, a touch of light peat or grass smoke, and minty or zesty elements. Some detect tropical hints (mango, papaya) malty/cocoa undertones in related expressions. It evolves into a refined, complex bouquet that include oily citrus, leather, or subtle maritime/iodine hints

Taste:
(Neat): Zesty and fruity at first — tropical fruits, orange marmalade, fresh pineapple, green apple, apricot. It starts creamy, then delivers punchy fruit, citrus (lemon, grapefruit), and a mineral/steely edge. At full strength it’s powerful, with some engine oil, hay, or smoky/grassy notes emerging. Water opens up elegance and reduces the heat.

Finish:
Lingering and clean, often zesty, with citrus, light smoke, with elegant mineral notes that fade gracefully. Not overly sweet or heavy, but refined and long for its style.

As with all our older bottles, there may be some slight damage to the labels / box.  Please see the pictures.
