Description

A 21 year old Macallan whisky. Bottled by Murray McDavid as part of their Vintage Selection series. Distilled in December 1974, it was then aged in cask number MM 6024, a fresh sherry wood cask, before being bottled in November 1996. Murray McDavid had several stunning Macallans, and this one’s a fine example.

Colour: Amber.

Nose:
This is superb, with fresh fruits and even flowers. Superb tangerines, sultanas, ripe kiwis, bananas and even cut apples, passion fruits and pink grapefruits. Lovely, lovely nose, very elegant.

Taste:
Perfect, very zesty, very fruity, with a light and complex style. Amazing oranges, grapefruits, bergamots, raisins and dried papayas. Only very, very faint rubbed orange peel in the background leads it off the straight and narrow.

Finish:
The finish is long, with rubbed orange peel beyond the lovely fruitiness.
